About BBC Learning

Moving to Salford

Salford Quays

Throughout 2011 BBC Learning will be moving to its new home in Salford Quays, two miles west of Manchester's city centre. We are moving along with other BBC departments - Children's, Sport, Future Media & Technology, Radio 5 Live, Breakfast News, regional and local broadcasting and Manchester-based production units for current affairs, religion & ethics and entertainment.

This move is part of a BBC-wide commitment to improve the service we deliver to all licence fee payers. As most of our audiences live outside London, it makes sense for Learning to move north. This will help us ensure we make content that is relevant for everyone in the UK and we will be part of the vibrant community in Manchester and the surrounding areas. We are very excited about the move and our new purpose-built offices which will be part of a new creative hub shared with other media and education providers, including the University of Salford.

Moving to Salford is a chance to change the way we work and the way we relate to our audiences. We will be exploring new ways of working and there will be many opportunities for partnership and closer involvement with BBC Learning.

There will also be recruitment opportunities available throughout the year. For more information about working for the BBC in Salford, visit the BBC North website.
